Polyurethane construction joint sealant is a type of sealant that is made from a polymer composed of diisocyanates and polyalcohols. In the event of a fire, fire retardant sealant will prevent smoke, flames, and other potentially hazardous substances from entering through these gaps, giving us more time to evacuate. The fire retardant sealant offers a fire resistance of up to 240 minutes, demonstrating exceptional durability against ozone, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures. It exhibits commendable adhesion properties to a wide range of standard building substrates. This sealant boasts a rapid curing process, achieving a tack-free state within a mere two hours. Moreover, it accommodates joint movements within a range of +/-25%. It is important to note that fire retardant sealant is indeed fire-rated; however, it should be clarified that it does not possess intumescent properties.
